MacVean-Brown

Shannon MacVean-Brown 

Ex-Officio

In 2019, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Shannon MacVean-Brown became the 11th Episcopal Bishop of Vermont. Since being ordained a priest in 2005, she has been particularly committed to community engagement, social justice, and leading multigenerational and multicultural communities through liturgy, pastoral care, and the arts. Before 2019, Bishop Shannon served both rural and urban parishes in Indiana and Michigan. As Bishop of Vermont, she has led the development of constellations, a new model for collaborative congregational ministry, and has worked with lay and clergy leaders across the state to streamline the diocese’s structures for finance, governance, and mission vitality. Bishop Shannon serves as an Ex-Officio member of the board in her role as Bishop of Vermont. 

Bishop Shannon has also held national leadership roles with Faith in Action, a national community organizing network. During her time in Detroit, she founded and led the Greater Woodward Community Development Corporation, to advance the economic opportunities and well-being of underserved residents of Detroit’s North End.

Before becoming a priest, she worked as a commercial interior designer, jewelry designer, and ceramicist. She and her husband, Phil, have been married since 1992. They have an adult daughter and a chihuahua named Detroit.

Ron Chesbrough

President

Following his time as a staff member at Rock Point School, Ron earned a Master’s and Ph.D. in Education and went on to work in higher education for 35 years in Student Affairs and as a two-time college president, first at a community college and then at a small private liberal arts college. Ron’s experience in higher education gives him important insights into both the quality of education provided at Rock Point and the harder edge of the administrative joys and challenges of operating a small, private education institution.

Ron is mostly retired and currently resides in Manlius, New York, with his wife Annie, a school counselor. Annie and Ron have five daughters ranging in age from 21 to 44 and strive to get the whole family together as often as possible.

Hannah Mariotti

Vice-President

Hannah is an Educational Consultant and is founder of Beacon Coaching and Consulting. A veteran educator and mental health counselor with over 30 years of experience, she has held positions in schools, hospitals, health services, and private practice, and has worked in both traditional independent and therapeutic schools.  She is an instructor with the University of New Hampshire Professional Development & Training Department where she provides workshops on a variety of topics for school staff and mental health professionals. She is an enthusiastic supporter of Rock Point School and understands the needs of prospective students and their families. 

An avid (but slow) runner, reader, and photographer, she lives on the New Hampshire Seacoast with her family.

McLendon

Lee McLendon

Secretary

As an educational consultant, Lee is committed to helping teens, young adults, and their families find appropriate educational and therapeutic settings that provide the opportunity for them to grow and succeed both academically and socially. Lee has worked in boarding schools as a Life Skills and foreign language teacher, coach, and dorm parent, in public schools as a School Counselor, and, since 2001, as an Independent Educational Consultant with her own practice. With this background, she offers the Board insights about the needs and challenges of teens and young adults, current trends in residential educational settings, and marketing.

Lee loves being outdoors, staying active with friends and family, and is a two-time National Outdoor Leadership School graduate. She especially enjoys alpine skiing, kayaking, and scuba diving, including underwater photography. She loves traveling to other cultures, learning new languages and crafts. Her two Maine Coon cats and her Labrador puppy, who will be training soon to do therapy work, along with volunteering with several other charity organizations also keep her busy!

Monica Brady-Myerov

Before starting Listenwise, an award-winning listening skills platform, Monica was an award-winning public radio reporter for nearly 25 years. Because of her public speaking background and expertise in auditory learning, she is a frequent speaker, workshop presenter, panelist, and moderator. Before starting Listenwise, she was Senior Reporter and Assistant Managing Editor at WBUR, Boston’s National Public Radio news station. After graduating from Brown University she was a freelance reporter in Kenya and Brazil. She worked at the Christian Science Monitor in Boston as a producer and then as a reporter in Washington, DC. She also worked on NPR’s Washington Desk. 

Currently, she is back in the media space as the publisher of the Vineyard Gazette Media Group on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.

Saeed Hammond '01

After graduating from Rock Point School in 2001, Saeed went on to earn a BA in Communication and Media Studies from Mt. Ida College in 2005.  He is a seasoned real estate broker and developer, and currently owns and operates a real estate investment lending company.

When he is not working, Saeed enjoys spending quality time with his family traveling, biking, and playing pool.  He lives in West Orange, New Jersey, with his wife and two children.

Daphne Layton

Daphne is currently Executive Vice President of Jobs for the Future (JFF), a national nonprofit driving systems change in education and workforce development to achieve equitable economic advancement for all. Prior to JFF, Daphne spent 15 years at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, first as leader of the school’s academic administration and then as chief development officer. Earlier she held academic program and policy roles in the University of Massachusetts system. Alongside her perspective as the grateful parent of an alum, Daphne brings experience in organizational leadership, strategic planning, development, and education to the board.

Daphne and her husband, Jim Madigan, live in Somerville, Massachusetts. They have two sons and their eldest graduated from Rock Point School. Daphne plays the violin in the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra and enjoys gardening, traveling, and long walks and hikes with Jim.

Robin Lloyd-Miller '10

An artist and educator, Robin focuses on the intersection between virtual and physical mediums. During the summer, he teaches fabrication and computer-related skills to youth at a creative arts camp in New Milford, Connecticut. Robin is an alum of Rock Point School who appreciates and believes strongly in the future of the school and the community. He is focused on sustainability at Rock Point.

Robin now lives in Rhode Island and works as an arcade game developer. He is active in makerspaces wherever they may be!

Frederic Reamer

A professor emeritus in the School of Social Work at Rhode Island College, Rick’s teaching and research have focused on professional ethics, criminal justice, mental health, health care, and public policy. He has published extensively on social work practice, with an emphasis on ethics and values. To his work on the Board he brings this expertise and his perspective as a parent of an alum. He understands the views and concerns that are critically important to the parents of current Rock Point School students and the unique challenges students and families are facing. As an educator, Rick brings his knowledge about the essential elements of a meaningful educational experience. 

Rick and his family live in Rhode Island, where they enjoy friends, a vibrant arts and education community, and an array of trails, parks, and coastline vistas. He and his wife relish the opportunity to connect with their daughters (including their flourishing Rock Point graduate), their partners, and their cherished grandson.

Andrew Rome

Andrew is an attorney and member of the Insurance Services and Litigation teams at the law firm of Paul Frank + Collins, P.C., in Burlington, Vermont.  Prior to embarking upon his legal career, Andrew dedicated himself to work in the mental health field with the Child, Youth, and Family Service Divisions of Howard Center, Inc., and Washington County (Vermont) Mental Health, respectively, where he served as an interventionist and interventionist coordinator of staff and child clients. 

Andrew lives in Essex, Vermont, with his wife and two young children.

Pamela Rae Schuller '05

Pamela is a graduate of RPS and now lives in New York City, touring full time as a disability and mental health advocate and professional stand-up comedian. She combines comedy and storytelling, with a masters in advocacy and executive coaching, as she works with communities, schools, and corporate teams to innovate around inclusion. She has spoken and performed in seven countries, in every state in the US, and for more than 100,000 kids, teens, and professionals. 

In her free time, she writes stand-up, is working to get her debut novel published, and attempts to pet every dog on the face of the earth.

Smith

Lorrie Smith

Lorrie is a Professor Emerita of English and American Studies at St. Michael’s College, where she taught for 34 years, specializing in teaching African American literature and working to develop culturally diverse courses and programs. She has on-the-ground experience with racial equity and anti-racism initiatives, and believes passionately in the power of education to cultivate cross-cultural awareness and understanding. She practices yoga and Buddhist meditation and tries to bring those ethical and spiritual values into everyday life.  

She lives in Winooski, Vermont with her husband, Jack, a singer-actor and fine woodworker. They have enjoyed many cross-country camping road trips. She has three children–all on the west coast–and is a new grandmother. She is outdoors as much as she can be–gardening, walking, hiking, and kayaking–and Ioves all types of live music.
