Lots of Love on Valentine's Day

on February 15, 2022 By Molly Huddle Coffey | Open & Inclusive
Each year our Head of School and his team of writers, including English Teacher Abbey Baker, compose a Valentine poem for the school. The tradition began twenty years ago with former Head of School, John Rouleau, writing a Valentine poem for the school with a rhyming couplet for each student. After John's retirement, C.J. kept the tradition alive with help from Abbey and College Counselor, Emily Skoler. On Valentine's Day, C.J., Gus Buchanan (History), Hans Manske (Math), and Hillary Kramer (Admissions) performed the poem wearing appropriately silly Valentine garb. This year we followed the poem with a sweet surprise - a Ben and Jerry's ice cream bar from the Quigley family!

Green and Growing Tower Garden at RPS

on February 8, 2022 By Molly Huddle Coffey | life skills
This year Rock Point School has expanded our gardening program to include an indoor tower garden. For years students and staff have grown food in the outdoor gardens on the Rock Point property as well as in the hoop house on campus. In 2021, the school was awarded a grant from the Whole Kids Foundation to invest in a tower garden that could be used year-round by students to grow food. The Whole Kids Foundation targets their grants for schools, particularly those with gardening and bees as part of their curriculum.

Designer and Engineer Sam Holland Visits RPS

on October 7, 2021 By Molly Huddle Coffey | high school academics
Sam Holland works to make the imagined real. As a former engineering student of our math tutor, Michael Coleman, Sam took his curiosity about how things were made and became a mechanical engineer. He has worked at places like MakerBot and Vimeo, and now, he owns his own business called informal.cc, where he helps companies of all sizes create hardware. We are thrilled that he decided to visit Rock Point School and work on 3-D design and printing projects with our students.

Fall 2021 COVID Updates

on August 25, 2021 By Molly Huddle Coffey | COVID-19
Last year, we worked hard to keep our community safe, and we were able to get everyone vaccinated in the spring! While we hoped that vaccinations would allow us to return to a more “normal” fall, given the high COVID rates around the country, “normal” is shifting. Here is what we are doing at RPS this fall to help keep everyone safe:
