Since our return from February break last week, students and staff have been working hard on various Maple Sugaring projects. In March, our history classes focus on the science, economics, and history of Maple Sugaring in Vermont. Additionally, Gus, our fearless history teacher, and Chuck, our property caretaker, lead students to chop wood, collect sap, and boil syrup. One of the best parts of this program is the sugaring tours our students give to local preschool and elementary school visitors. Our students teach the little ones all about sugaring: from how sap flows in the tree, to chopping wood, to eating maple syrup! This year we have tours scheduled for two weeks and are grateful for the warmer weather (last year it did not rise above freezing during the tours). Finally, students and staff have been preparing food for our Maple Run and Brunch on Saturday! We have made hundreds of waffles, some crunchy maple granola, and so much more. Currently, we have more people pre-registered for the event than attended last year, so we are getting ready to serve a big crowd. Hope to see you there!
