Mobiles of Privilege

on February 6, 2013 By Charlotte Blend | News Feed
The front hall of Rock Point School saw some new decoration this week in the form of three mobiles created as part of a Wellness class on privilege. Students were divided into three groups and given materials and tools based on whether on they were considered under-privileged, privileged or very privileged. They were then asked to make a mobile that encapsulated their Rock Point experience. They then talked about what it means to come from different backgrounds and how this might affect your life. Residential Educator, Joe Ainsworth, who led the class reported that the students had very insightful comments and really seemed to benefit from the visual example of the mobiles. The students' creations can be seen in this photo.
