Our 26th annual Rock Point School & Acme Glass Wiffle Fest on August 10 was a blast!
Fans, spectators, and players from 44 Wiffle Ball teams enjoyed a beautiful summer day on the Point on August 10th. The players, many rocking custom team t-shirts, put on a great show of teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedicated play all to raise money for Rock Point School. A crew of wonderful volunteers set up the ball fields (twice, thanks to the hurricane), mowed, put up banners, printed t-shirts, organized the potluck lunch, grilled burgers, and cleaned up in record time. Special thanks to our Deputy Commissioners, Jack Clement and Mia Juliano, who kept everything running smoothly!
Our 2024 Champions
The Snubs, Robbie Richard and Quinn Wardwell, returned to the top of the hill again, defeating the Rake Monsters, Charlie Lefrak and James O’Brien, in a tight 4-2 game in the Majors World Series.
Oliver Aubin lifted the Surfclan (Oliver, Tamari Brown, and Dylan Driscoll) to a Minors World Series win with a walk-off home run in dramatic, extra innings against the Giants, Josh, Robbie, and Guthrie Safran, perennial contenders in the post-season.
In addition to having a great tournament, our Wiffle community also raised over $26,000 for our school! We are deeply grateful to all of the donors and sponsors who rallied to turn this fun community event into an opportunity to benefit our students. Special thanks to our inspiring lead donors, Liam O’Farrell, who gave in loving memory of his brother, Brian O’Farrell; Monica and Adam Brady-Myerov, who are long-time Wiffle Fest participants, among other hats in this community, and an anonymous alumni parent who was eager to support RPS as soon as possible.
All teams, returning and new, played with class, skill, and kept the spirit of the game front and center!
